Blaaaaaargh July 14, 2009

That’s the noise my stomach makes when its had too much processed, sugary food.
Where, in this land of mango-flavored potato chips and sidewalks overrun with watermelon, does one find the kind of processed food you even want to eat, let alone eat enough of it to make your tummy go blaaaaaaargh?
The answer? The mail. From the Walshes.
Chris received a package from his parents yesterday which contained Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, peanut butter cheese crackers, 4-pack packages of mini blueberry muffins, and gummies. Kind of a weird mix of foodstuffs to send, I thought. Processed mini-muffins? Harmless itself. But together…
Yesterday, after celebrating my birthday with reading, coffee and ice cream at the local KFC, we returned to our apartment, still full of the big pasta lunch we ate before leaving. It was almost 8:00 anyway so we decided to watch a movie while drinking my birthday wine and snacking on all this food Chris’s parents just sent minus the gummies. PLUS popcorn.
By the time “Fright Night” ended, we were clutching our stomachs moaning in discomfort. THIS! THIS terrible food baby feeling. THIS solid, roiling lump in your stomach. THIS is the consequence of overdosing on processed goodies! With the noodle-rice-vegetable-egg Doodle diet, we’d forgotten. We’d forgotten! But now our stomachs know the wrath of refined sugar… just hope it remembers…
