Meooooooooowwwwwwwww!

Spring must be coming, although we can’t really feel it yet because the weather gods have decided now is the time for snow.  Anyway, we it because the pride of semi-stray cats in the neighborhood have seriously upped their fighting and crying and screaming.  Tis the season for lovins.  And when they’re not getting it, [...]

Omigod! SNOW!

I left for class this morning for my 8:00 class at 7:35 and was shocked, amazed, aghast (!) to see a layer of heavy wet snow covering the ground!  The first snowfall of the season!  I would have skipped down the road had I not been afraid to slip and fall.
My classes today were [...]

Vacation Photos!

As promised, Chris and I posted a few photos of our trip on Snapfish so check ‘em out!
(password is chinaphotos)
Because today was the first day of the new semester and we are tired, we only did half of them (Kunming, Baoshan, Ruili) but we’ll finish the rest soon!

Baoshan and Ruili

We travelled west.  First, a two-night stopover in Baoshan and than on to Ruili even further west, snuggled up close to Burma.  So close, we could see the Burmese mountains in the distance (once again, stodgy Chris said no to my plan of tiptoeing across the border!). This was as off-the-beaten-track as Chris and I [...]

Kunming

Within minutes of our first walk around Yunnan’s capital city of Kunming, we decided this was a lovely cosmopolitan city with lush plants and trees and bright sunshine unlike the perpetually bleak look of other cities we were familiar with.  The city also eschewed much of that godawful white tile architecture favored by so many [...]

Home Again, Home Again

We’re back!
We arrived yesterday morning at the cold, bitter hour of 6:30 AM.  What else could we do but immediately go right back to bed and pretend we’re still tucked in the cozy room in Lijiang, sun streaming through the window or in the comfortable bunks in Kunming?
To sum up: we had a blast and [...]
