“I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember I do not need your help. If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (Something For God To Do) Box. All situations will be resolved, but in my time, not yours. Once the matter is placed in the box.”
This was a sign posted in one of Chris’s classrooms. Apparently, there really is a SFGTD box, like a suggestion box at a restaurant. I feel deprived that I don’t have any such colorful signs posted in my classrooms- only scuffed and dirty walls formerly-white-now-gray walls.
We both scratched our heads at this. Really China? Anyang Normal University is by no means a religious school… so what gives? Is”God” a euphemism for communist party? He seems awfully nice for wanting to take care of all our problems- Lord knows I hate fighting with our semi-automatic washing machine every week- but it’s a self-centered and pompous way of offering help. ”Oh, I’ll get around to your bleeding wounds whenever I feel like it.” So tough luck! I don’t need you!
