a little coffee

reads a blurb from Thursday’s China Daily:

” A man was so angered he fell ill after his freshman daughter had her arm and foot tattooed in Guangzhou, capital of Gunagdong province, early last week.

“The conservative dad suffered a heart attack when he learned Xiao Lan had two scorpions tattooed when he arrived in Guangshou from his home town in Anhui province.

“Fortunatly he is now in a stable condition.

“Xiao had her arm and foot tattooed during the National Day holidas after encouragement from roommates.”

Ha! In quirky China someone would have a heart attack at seeming their offspring’s tattoos.  This had me laughing out loud thinking about how many people I know have tattoos.  How many people you can see walking down a Chicago street with their arms covered with a rainbow of images: skulls, hearts, naked ladies, birds, flowers, insects. Then I realized my conservative father would fall ill too if I went home with tattoos.
