Deadlines Make Me Polka Polka Polka! January 9, 2008

Had myself another productive early morning!
This writing business is getting easier. I’m cranking out roughly 1,000 words an hour. But still that obnoxious voice pops up, is this working? What can you do with this later? Accordion players? Seriously?
My defense? An ever-looming word count. Without it, my fingers would freeze.
Do I really need accordion players? No, they’re just taking up space. I should delete it. But it’s kinda funny. Accordion players. There could be a polka dance in the street! That’s dumb. No, funny. Dumb! Funny! What point does it serve? To be…funny?
And before I know it, I’m schizophrenic with an incomplete story on my hands.Screw that.
That’s the beauty of deadlines. It quiets that voice rights after it poses the questions. Accordian players…?
Stop! Do NOT answer that!
And just keep typing.
Today’s total: 2,178!

Well, most writers have a case of scribing constipation, but if yours is the opposite case, don’t argue with it….
Let it all come out first. Deal with it later. Deadlines are mostly meant to be broken.
Well, unless your editor knows you well, anyway:)
